Finish-Or-Frog-It #3: Franny Granny Cardigan

The Franny Granny Cardigan is a pattern by Hannah Cross of HanJan Crochet. Hannah makes some really wonderful patterns, and often has YouTube tutorial videos to help walk you through the pattern. I’ve made a few of her patterns, and always been happy with them. The Franny Granny Cardigan is part of a larger collection of garments utilizing the granny stitch.

For my Franny Granny Cardigan, I chose to use one of the suggested yarns, Sirdar Jewelspun in the colorway Northern Lights. This is the same colorway shown in pattern photos, and I happened to have the yarn already in my stash. I’d bought it for a different project, then decided it was too heavy for that project. Serendipity?

Sirdar Jewelspun is an Aran weight self-striping yarn. It’s designed to have a handspun look, but is 100% acrylic. It’s very soft & fluffy, and comes is a variety of gorgeous colorways. They came up with the name Jewelspun for a reason! This is my second project using Jewelspun, and I’ve found it to be really nice to work with.

I began this project in August 2024, but it got moved down my priority list mostly because it was for me, and I had gift projects that needed to be finished in the crafting time that I had available. I’ve picked it up occasionally when I want some mindless crocheting, and I have finished all but the sleeves at this point. Even the ribbing is done, which is often the place where I stall out because it’s boring.

This one is definitely going on the list to be finished. Since it’s a heavier weight garment, and winter is nearly done here in Florida, it won’t be at the top of my list, but I’m definitely going to finish this one. Look at these beautiful colors!

Gorgeous, right?

Talk soon, Eileen
