Finish-Or-Frog-It Finale!

Finish-or-frog-it February was unexpectedly cut short for me, courtesy of the flu. Thankfully, I had already made most of my decisions before the symptoms hit, because I didn’t even touch yarn or a hook or needle for over a week!

The only long-term WIP that I didn’t have a chance to post about during February is the Daphne Afghan. This is a queen-size version of the pattern b Toni Lipsey of TLYarnCrafts. It’s basically finished, but the sides are a bit wonky. I’m hoping that blocking will take care of it, but if not, I will have to remove the border and take the sections apart and rejoin them before doing the border again. Or I could just decide to leave it as is, but since I’m making it as a gift, I’d rather not leave it wonky. Cross your fingers for me on this one. I really don’t want to have to take it apart and redo the assembly and border.

So if you’ve been keeping track, out of the eleven WIPs I started with, I frogged 5 and plan to finish the other 6. Although I’m rethinking my Ranunculus, so I may end up frogging that one after all. I’m enjoying the pattern, but I don’t feel like it shows off the yarn. I’ve already started a new Ranunculus using yarn from my stash – Cirrus Rainbow by Juniper Moon Farms the the colorist November Afternoon. It’s 100% Mako Cotton, so it is much more warm-climate friendly.

In addition to the new Ranunculus, I started a couple of other new projects during February. The first is a pattern test for Just The Worsted called the Trails Tee. It’s a Tunisian crochet striped tee, and I had most of the yarn in my stash, so that’s a bonus. This will fulfill 2 squares on my 2025 Bingo Card: “make a Tunisian garment’ and ‘do a pattern test.’

The second new project is a Lamia Wrap, a Tunisian crochet shawl pattern from Toni Lipsey of TLYarnCrafts. I saw several people working on the Lamia Wrap during Toni’s “Make It CAL” and I decided it was time to pull this one from my queue and start it. I’m using Hobbii Happy Place yarn from my stash for this one.

I only got a couple of rows into the Rift tee by Jaq Cieslak when the flu hit. This one is a sport-weight knitted tee and I’m using Sewrella Yarns Classic Sport in the color way One More Skein from the Rhinebeck collection form Fall 2024. This is a gorgeous purply-pink tonal, and I’m so excited to really get into this pattern.

So I started February with 11 WIPs, frogged 5 and added 4. So that leaves me with 10 current WIPs (not counting things that I’m working on that may become patterns in the future). Two are traditional crochet, 3 are Tunisian crochet, and 4 are knitting. There’s 1 blanket, 3 shawls, and 6 garments.

What have you been working on?

Talk soon, Eileen
