Coraline Advent Calendar 2024 by Yarn Baby

I first discovered Yarn Baby when I visited Sun Dragon Art & Fiber, a wonderful yarn store in Brevard, NC in July 2024. They carry some yarn dyed by Shannon of Yarn Baby exclusively for their shop, inspired by the beautiful area they call home. I fell in love with a colorway called The Mountains Are Calling.

I’ve since made a few purchases directly from the Yarn Baby website, and always been really happy when the packages arrive, because the yarns are even more gorgeous in person! And with colorway names like “Disco Chicken” and “A Discovery of Witches,” I just love her creativity!

I’ll be honest – I’ve never seen Coraline. I have no idea what it’s about. But I know a few things: (1) I’ve always been very happy with anything that’s been created by Yarn Baby; (2) I love the blue-to-purple fade of the inspiration image; and (3) I love Advent calendars. So when I saw on social media that Yarn Baby had some extra Advent calendars available, I decided to give this one a shot.

This Advent Calendar is promised to include 24 hand-dyed DK weight mini skeins. This is a luxury DK base, with 80% EXTRA fine sw merino, 10% CASHMERE and 10% recycled nylon. Each mini-skein is 49 yards, resulting in 1,176 yards of beautiful one-of-a-kind yarn. There will also be some extra goodies, which will apparently be things knitter/crocheters/weavers will find useful, that also plays a significant role in the movie.

Here’s Day 1:

The photo doesn’t do it justice – can you see the little bits of purple mixed in with the dark gray? And the big black circle is a great big button. I’m intrigued to see where this one is going!

Have you seen Coraline? Is this one that I need to watch?

Talk soon, Eileen

PS: As of when I’m writing this, Yarn Baby has ONE Advent Calendar left in stock, and it even qualifies for a discount! Even though you’d miss starting opening on December 1st, you will still get all of the yummy yarn and goodies. Plus, you get to open a few days all at once to catch up when your package arrives!! You can find the calendar here, if it is still available when you’re reading this!
