Botanical Fade Advent Calendar 2024 by HueLoco

When I saw the inspiration photos for HueLoco’s Botanical Fade Advent Calendar, I was instantly hooked. Look at these beauties:

These colors are right up my alley, and I couldn’t let this one pass me by! This advent was promised to include twenty-four 20g mini skeins plus one 100g skein, all in your chosen base. (Available bases were 3 sock bases and one DK base). The mini skeins would include speckled, tonal, and semisolids, and would smoothly transition along the 24 skeins. The final skein would be a full skein called Flora that would coordinate with the fade, working well as an accent or edging color. They also offered additional skeins of Flora separately.

No additional goodies with this calendar, but I go back & forth about whether I want those extras included. Yes, those little surprises can be fun. And they are often made by other small businesses, which is a real bonus. But they do add to the overall cost of the Advents, and if it’s not something that you will use or have someone else to gift it to, it can be a waste. Some Calendars give you the option to skip those extras, which I do appreciate.

Knowing that the Hue Loco Advent Calendars are popular and sell out quickly, I set an alarm for this one so I could make sure I didn’t miss out on this, especially since the inspiration photos looked like it could have been designed just for me! I ordered the Single Sock option, which is 100% SW Merino (90 yds per mini), and also purchased some additional skeins of Flora in the same base, so I’d have lots of options for a project for this yarn.

Here’s how the Advent arrived. There is a list of the colors included on the inside of the lid, which is a nice touch.

And here is Day 1:

The colorway is called Safflower. What a beautiful start to this fade! I must admit that I may be most excited about this one out of all of the Advents that I have this year. If it lives up to the inspiration photos, I’m going to be very happy!
