Hobbii Advent Calendars for Knitters and Crocheters

In addition to yarn Advent Calendars from independent hand-dyers, I also found that Denmark yarn company Hobbii was offering project Advent Calendars. They had one for knitters and one for crocheters. Each Advent includes four pouches to be opened weekly during December, and include a combination of Hobbii yarns, accessories, and a QR code for a brand-new pattern designed especially for this Advent Calendar. The crochet patterns were designed by Toni Lipsey of TL YarnCrafts, and the knitting patterns were designed by Toni’s mother, Gwendolyn Jones, affectionately known to Toni’s fans as “Mama Gwen.”

The patterns are a mystery until each one is released on the Sunday of each week, but Hobbii did release the following images as a hint about what we could expect:

I am a big fan of Toni Lipsey of TLYarnCrafts, so deciding to get the Crochet Advent was a no-brainer. And since I’ve been working to learn and develop my knitting skills recently, I decided to buy the Knitting version also. Yes, I was perhaps a bit overzealous, but I’m looking forward to the new patterns and playing with some new yarns that I’ve never tried before.

The first week’s pouch was scheduled to be opened on November 30th, with the remaining three on each Sunday. However, I’m still working on some holiday gift projects, and if I open these now, I’m afraid I’ll get distracted and want to start these new projects first. So I’ve decided to hold off on opening until I have finished my holiday crafting. That will truly be my incentive to finish the remaining gift items!
