Finish-or-Frog-It #6: Lacy Spring Cardigan

This pattern is by Michelle Moore of MJs Off The Hook Designs. Exactly as its name suggests, this cardigan is lacy and Springy and so pretty! It calls for DK weight yarn, and suggests a cotton/linen blend. I chose a semisolid hand-dyed yarn from Sewrella Yarns in the color Pearl. It’s hard to see in photos, but there’s something kind of magical about this colorway. Like a pearl or the inside of a seashell, it seems to shift colors depending on the angle and lighting. Is it ivory? Pink? Neither and both. It’s gorgeous!

I love the stitch pattern and the fabric it creates, and you’ve got to love a garment pattern that only requires two pieces! Minimal shaping and works up quickly – what more could you ask for? So why has this project been languishing in my WIP pile since early Fall?

Florida. I blame Florida for this one. I just don’t need cardigans much since I moved down here from the northeast a few years ago. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this project and so much right with both the pattern and the yarn. It’s all Florida.

So this project is going to be frogged. That beautiful yarn can be used in another project, instead of becoming another cardigan that is worn once a year, if at all. And I’ll keep this pattern in mind the next time I’m looking for a pattern to make a gift for someone who doesn’t already have more than a dozen handmade cardigans and no where to wear them.

Talk soon, Eileen
